Pope Francis: 'God weeps' at child sex abuse
Pope Francis has met and prayed with a small group of victims of child sexual abuse in the United States, assuring them that God weeps for their suffering.
The Roman Catholic Church in the United States has been embroiled in child sex scandals and its Dioceses have made huge compensations pay out to victims.
The pope met the five victims, who are now adults but suffered sexual abuse as children at a Seminary in Pennsylvania.
The group, three women and two men had been abused by the Clergy, family members or teachers.
The Pope's Spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi said the Pontiff has renewed his commitment to ensure that victims get justice, the guilty punished and to effective prevention in the church and the society.
At the end of a nine day tour of Cuba and the US, Pope Francis is due to hold an open air mass in Philadelphia.
