Audu Alleges Threat to His Life

The Prince Abubakar Audu Campaign Organisation yesterday alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party in the state was plotting to eliminate its candidate in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Head of Media of the organisation, Dr Tom Ohikere, in a statement issued in Lokoja, alleged that some hoodlums apprehended at Ejule in Ofu Local Government Area of the state by men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad were on a mission to attack the house of the APC candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu.
Oyikere warned the PDP to stop using undemocratic means to continue to remain in power in the state.

He also called on the law enforcement agents to be vigilant and proactive as the state moves towards the November 21 governorship election.

But in a swift reaction, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Publicity Secretary in the state, Bode Ogunmola, debunked the allegation, saying “the APC is only crying foul.”

According to him, the PDP already enjoyed the support of the masses and did not need to resort to violence to win election.

He said if there was substance to such allegation, the party ought to have gone to the security agencies to lodge its complaint.

Ogunmola alleged that it was the APC  in the state that was planning evil ahead of the forthcoming election.
When contacted, the Kogi police commissioner, Emmanuel Ojukwu, said the command did not receive report of alleged threat to Audu’s life or property.

He said that the eight persons arrested by the police at Ejule on October 14 and paraded on Friday were suspected thugs, whose destination was not known.

Ojukwu said the suspects will soon be charged to court, adding that thuggery contravenes the law of Kogi State.
