Nigerian leaders have been urged to step up in contributing their own quota in the development of the nation, especially by tackling unemployment in the country.
The wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, made this call during her visit to Owerri the Imo State capital, for the graduation of students from her skills acquisition centre and pet project, Project Ayodele Initiative.
While commending the project initiator for choosing Imo State as one of the states to benefit from the initiative, the wife of the Imo State Governor, Nkechinyere Okorocha, said that the success of the training would go a long way to address the issue of unemployment in the state as participants will no longer be job seekers but will be able to start their own businesses and even become employers of labour.
The initiator, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, while addressing the gathering, gave a brief history of the reason behind the Project Ayodele Initiative.
She called on all leaders in the country to ensure that they give more to the development of Nigeria, especially in this period of economic recession.
Meanwhile, the Imo State Governor, Mr Rochas Okorocha, in his speech enjoined all leaders and politicians in the country to emulate this gesture as it would go a long way to address issues of unemployment and poverty in the country.
