FIDA solicits support of stakeholders on Gender Equality Bill

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) on Monday called on stakeholders to sponsor the Gender Parity and Prohibition of Violence against Women bill.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Inime Aguma, FIDA’s Publicity Secretary in Abuja.

The Gender Parity and Prohibition of Violence against Women Bill was presented by Sen. Abiodun Olujimi representing Ekiti South on March 15.

UN registered 99 sex crime allegations in 2015

There were 99 new allegations of sexual exploitation also known as sexual abuse against UN staff members across the UN system in 2015, a sharp increase from the 80 allegations in 2014, according to a new UN report.

The majority of those allegations, which were 69 in all, involved personnel in 10 peace keeping missions, the report said.

The report said that the military and police personnel accused of sexual crimes while serving for the UN involved some 21 countries, claiming that most of them are African.

Moscow child beheading: Uzbek nanny says 'ordered by Allah'

A nanny in Russia accused of murdering and then decapitating a little girl in her care has said that "Allah ordered" her to carry out the act.

Gulchekhra Bobokulova, a 38-year-old mother of three, spoke to reporters on her way into a Moscow court.
