Teenager remanded for allegedly raping minor

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday ordered the remand of 18-year-old boy, Sesan Adeniran, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.


The Chief Magistrate, Mr Idowu Ayenimo, ordered the remand, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case till July 11, for further hearing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Caleb Leranmo, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 12 at No. 106, Okeoja St., Aramoko -Ekiti.

He alleged that the accused, on the said date, unlawfully raped a 13-year-old girl, while she was coming back from school.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

He added that he had forwarded his case file to the office DPP for legal advice.

The plea of the accused was not taken.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Chiamaka Okoro, prayed the court for a short date, pending the DPP’s legal advice.
