Appeal Court Ruling: Desire of Detractors to Truncate LG Administration in Kogi Has Failed – Awoniyi

Kogi State Government has congratulated the Council Chairmen and Councilors in the State who were this morning reinstated by the Appeal Court, Abuja Division.

In a statement issued in lokoja, the State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, described the decision by the State Governor, Capt Idris Wada to abide by the Koton Karfe High Court Ruling as respect for the rule of law, stressing that subsequent appeal mounted by all stakeholders has been further vindicated by the Appeal Court Ruling.

Awoniyi disclosed that the desire of detractors to truncate Local Government administration in the State has been brought to naught.

The State Government felicitate with all men of good will and believers of true democracy for the Appeal Court victory.

The State Government in the statement said it will continue to ensure a harmonious working relationship with the Local Government tier of Government.

The Government in the statement further assured that it will continue to guarantee the autonomy of the Local Government as guaranteed by the constitution and extent laws passed by the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The Government also congratulated Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed, for his victory at the Kogi State Election Tribunal, said the judgment is a confirmation of his victory at the April 11, State House of Assembly Election.

The statement described the string of victories for the PDP, as ominous signs for all detractors of the ruling PDP in the state to see that the party would forge forward and ensure it remains the preferred political platform for the transformation of Kogi State and in the realization of the goals in its quest for better life for all its citizens.
