The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress
(APC) has approved the appointment of Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan Ali (retd.)
as Chairman of the gubernatorial primary election committee for Bayelsa
State.
The election is expected to hold today.
Dan Ali replaces Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, who said that
in spite of the heavy presence of security personnel at the Samson
Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, venue of the election, last Tuesday, armed
thugs still found their way and disrupted the exercise.
Oshiomhole insisted in his report to the national headquarters of the
APC that no primary held last Tuesday as thugs hijacked the electoral
process even as the police were helpless.
Speaking on the resolve to hold a new primary election, the National
Organizing Secretary of APC, Sen Osita Izunaso, said authentic candidate
of the party will emerge today.
